I never realized how enormous these cars were until I parked my turn-of-the-century full-size sedan next to my friends and it looked *SMALL*

Mine used to be tan-on-tan. Then Plastidip happened.

are you saying she has the same body style, or her car does?

New cars in general are getting bigger and bigger. CrzRsn's 13 Mustang (also a bright-ass green, coincidentally) is longer and wider than my 97 XJ, which I can fit into all the tiny parking spots left by people parking over the lines.

The LeSabre looks a lot bigger to me. In fact it is a lot bigger. The LeSabre is 9.4" longer and 2.3" taller than the Camaro.

It is, but the Buick has two more doors and isn't *that* much larger. Also seats 6. I wonder how the curb weights compare?

The Camaro is almost exactly the same size as the current Regal. The LeSabre is bigger than the current LaCrosse. And even the current LaCrosse, though smaller outside, weighs more than your LeSabre.

always makes me laugh that my 4 door wagon is smaller and lighter than a "muscle sport COUPE"
It's funny, because when I look at my wrx vs challengcamarostang, I see a sportier vehicle in the wrx. I see weight before I see # of doors I guess. Not that I don't appreciate those cars, they just don't offer what I'm looking for. I love my hopped up awd economy car

Challengers are huge. Like twice the size of my celica. Not sure how people think that's sporty

So are sedans getting smaller, or are current muscle cars just enormous?
![]() 05/01/2014 at 14:34 |

Also, take a look at my handle. I consider my Buick, because it's lighter than most modern muscle and can make as much power with a SC 3800SII, to be a modern FWD muscle car (mostly joking... mostly).

yeah the Challenger is straight-up larger than my LeSabre in every dimension except height. 4in longer, 2in wider I think. 5 inches shorter though.

The current Camaro is actually the second-shortest of the Camaro's 5 generations. Second only to the '67-69. It's taller and a bit wider than its predecessors, but it hasn't really grown all that much.
Sedans are getting smaller. Your LeSabre is shorter overall than a 1975-79 Nova, which was Chevy's compact.

To be completely honest, muscle cars have always been enormous. For example, everybody talks about how big the current Challenger is. Well, a 1974 Challenger is flippin' huge.

The Challenger is the largest vehicle known to man /Clarksonism
I got one as a rental when my car was at a body shop. It was horrible in every way. I returned it the next day for a five year old Hyundai Santa Fe and I was MUCH happier.

Yeah I remember you telling me that story awhile ago. Haven't looked at them the same since.
It's like a very impractical low two door truck, without the bed.

Yup!
Park next to a '70 Chevelle with a modern midsize car. A Nova is a compact car.
